That’s a wrap for the first-ever UK Tech Week

That’s a wrap for the first-ever UK Tech Week – a week that spanned the entire country and brought UK tech together.

The aim of UK Tech Week is to highlight the talent and innovation that exists in every region and nation. We wanted to bring together for the first time, the various tech weeks and festivals, tech hubs and national advocacy organisations, and build connections across the UK – and we did!

We were overwhelmed by the support we have received. Launching the week with 21 Event Partners (the different hubs and organisations), we ended it with 23 as two more joined during the week (a warm welcome to the brand-new Belfast Tech Week that announced its first-ever event to be held in September and October this year). We know there are many more out there and we’ll continue to work throughout the year to highlight the work that they all do.

And that’s important to us: UK Tech Week will bring everyone together over a few days to connect and build, but it will also promote our Event Partners’ main weeks and festivals, from Bath Digital Festival in May, to TechNext in the North East in June, all the way through to Birmingham Tech Week in October, and into next year with Sussex Tech Week in January – and all events in between.

We started the week with a launch party in Birmingham with guests from many tech hubs and organisations. A big thank you to Oli Barrett, the host with the most, and to Yiannis Maos from TechWM for their help on the day.

We’re looking at building a comprehensive calendar of events that take place across the year; get in touch if you want to add yours.
