codebar Brighton Workshop @ Octopus Energy

Join codebar Brighton for a friendly and inclusive evening of coding hosted by Octopus Energy.

codebar is a global community that runs free programming workshops. We help people from groups traditionally underrepresented in tech learn coding in a safe and supportive environment. Our workshops welcome complete beginners as well as more experienced learners. You can work through tutorials, coursework, or your own coding projects.

During the session, we match students with experienced developers for 1-to-1 or small group support. This helps everyone learn at their own pace. So whether you’re writing your first line of code or building a new project, a volunteer coach will be there to help.

Developers and technologists can also join as volunteer coaches. Coaching is a great way to give back to the community. It also helps new developers grow and gives you the chance to meet others in the local tech scene.

What to expect

18:30 – Arrival and pizza 🍕
First, arrive, grab some pizza, and meet other attendees.

19:00 – Coding workshop begins 💻
Then the workshop starts. Students work through tutorials or their own projects while coaches provide guidance and support.

21:00 – Wrap up
After the session, we finish the workshop. Many attendees then join an optional social at a nearby pub 🍻.
