Speakers include:

  • Adam Kelly, British Business Bank – Adam is Managing Director, Co-Head of Fund Investments, within the British Business Bank (BBB). Adam is responsible for the delivery and management of BBB’s debt fund and fintech investments, early-stage angel equity investments and the Nations & Regions Investment Funds. Adam built his career in corporate finance with investments banks, Dresdner Kleinwort and JPMorgan Cazenove primarily working with financial services companies.
  • Ben Cooper, Angel Investors Bristol – Ben is a co-founder of Angel Investors Bristol. AIB is sector agnostic, but all its investments to date have been in Deeptech businesses – including Nuclear Fusion, AI, Medtech and Bioscience. AIB focusses on the South West and South Wales, leaning into the data that suggests Angel investors have a strong desire to invest locally.
  • Nikita Govekar, Beauhurst – Nikita is a regular at our Investment Summits, providing an insight into the South West investment scene, in comparison to the rest of the UK. With the numbers for 2024 highlighting a difficult period for founders, Nikita will be looking specifically at the Deeptech sector and searching for signs of optimism.
  • Lauren Crawley-Moore, London Stock Exchange – the LSE is set to launch PICSES (the Private Intermittent Securities and Capital Exchange System), a new market that enables early stage private companies to periodically raise capital through a regulated platform, but also enable early stage investors the opportunity to exit – and to recycle that capital into more early stage businesses.
  • Professor Matt Freeman, Future Space – Matt is the Centre Director for Future Space. Future Space is part of one of four University Enterprise Zones in the UK. The West of England University Enterprise Zone provides facilities and services to companies specialising in robotics, biosciences, medical technologies, and other high-tech sectors.

  • Chris Oliver is Investment Principal at Oxford Innovation Finance, home of one of the oldest and largest angel investment networks in the UK. Chris’ work involves identifying and working with the most promising next generation of innovative, high-growth UK science and technology companies
  • Melanie Goward is a Partner at leading alternative asset manager Maven Capital Partners, providing investment opportunities to investors and funding to ambitious businesses.
  • Richard Yorke is a cyber tech investor and one of the founding Directors of Cyber Cheltenham (CyNam), a Community Interest Company and Cyber Cluster focused on the development and growth of the Cyber ecosystem in the Cheltenham and Gloucestershire region. Richard is launching an Angel Group focussed on Cyber, AI and Defence.
  • Matt Hicks, Investment Manager at Fortescue, is a results-oriented technology investment specialist with over five years of Deep Tech and Climate Tech investment experience.
  • Harry Alexander, Investment Manager at QantX. QantX is a South West based investment manager, investing in high impact innovation in the region. Capitalising on the rich vein of R&D undertaken in across the region’s universities, QantX invests in university spin outs and innovation led business, providing them with the much needed capital to take their technologies to market.
