Tech for Good Unconference

Tech4Good South West are bringing our Unconference format to Exeter! This format is proving very popular for tech for good discussions, given the breadth of the topic. Check out our blog from the December Unconference in Bristol to find out more.

Join us for an exciting session of collaboration and innovation at the Tech for Good Unconference, hosted by Tech4Good South West. This event welcomes anyone passionate about exploring how technology can be harnessed for social impact and the greater good—whether you’re a technologist, social entrepreneur, community organiser, advocate for digital inclusion, or simply curious about the potential of tech to drive positive change.

Lucy Hawthorne is our facilitator for this session. Lucy’s friendly and engaging style will guide us through meaningful conversations, making sure everyone feels included and has a chance to share their ideas.

In true Unconference style, there will be no set agenda beforehand—you shape the conversations! Whether you’re passionate about solving societal challenges through digital innovation or keen to share your ideas on the intersection of tech and social good, this is the space for open, peer-led discussions. Bring your topics, share your experiences, and learn from others in a relaxed and creative atmosphere.

An unconference is a different kind of event, where the agenda is set on the day by the people who come along and so it’s 100% on your terms. You choose the conversations you want to have, rather than them being presented to you. Such a style is always very engaging and excellent for deep chats and making new connections. Lucy Hawthorne will be facilitating but the content will entirely be up to you.

“An unconference is an exciting, participant-led event where you get to shape the agenda around the tech for good topics that really matter. Instead of following a set program, you can start or join discussions about things that inspire or challenge you—like ethical tech, digital inclusion, or using technology for social impact. It’s all about open conversations, sharing ideas, and learning from each other in a relaxed and collaborative space. You’ll have the chance to connect with others who care about making a difference and leave with fresh ideas and new connections.”

Key areas of exploration may include:

• Ethical use of AI and emerging technologies

• Building tech solutions for sustainability

• Community-driven digital innovation

• Tackling digital inequality

• Tech’s role in addressing climate change

• And much more, based on your contributions!

Everyone is welcome! We particularly welcome curious charities, non-profits, social enterprises and of course our tech sector. No matter your level of expertise or background, whether you’re a tech expert or just curious about how technology can positively impact society, all are welcome. This is your chance to connect, co-create, and inspire one another in a community dedicated to making tech work for good.
