techSPARK is hosting the first Techie Brekkie, a joint event between CyberFirst, Unlock Cyber at UWE and the West of England Careers Hub (WECA/CEC).
The skills pipeline is increasingly important to tech industries in the southwest, and the gap between jobs available and qualified applicants continues to grow wider. This event is designed to introduce you to the major projects within the city designed to address this problem head-on. Each project relies on industry support to deliver its packages of engagement, and this event is the opportunity to learn how your team can support.
In the session, you will hear from:
CyberFirst: As the school outreach element of NCSC, CyberFirst engages with schools and colleges across the southwest to encourage students into computer science qualifications and careers in cybersecurity. Industry partners run teacher training, hands-on workshops, mentoring, careers talks and more!
Unlock Cyber: UWE Unlock Cyber was created in 2018 to bring together employers, professional bodies, education providers and academia from across the West of England region. Working collectively, we create, raise awareness and deliver cyber activities, resources and events for young people (age 11+) to help meet future skills needs.
West of England Careers Hub (WECA/CEC): The Careers Hub team works with 95 schools and colleges in the West of England region, supporting Career Leaders and Senior Leaders to improve the quality of their Careers education. Sustained employer engagement across a range of sectors is a key part of our young people’s exploration into the careers they aspire to and, today, we want to tell you about two initiatives.
