Speakers include:

Cindy: has a professional background in the construction industry. She chose tech as a pathway because she really enjoys learning and understanding how different things and processes work. She wanted to build digital tools that help solve complex problems as well as improve our standard way of doing things. To help her develop these digital skills, she undertook the TechUP Women Programme delivered by Durham University and the Institute of Coding. This enabled her to explore the different disciplines and pathways available in the tech industry. She recently completed the Level 5 Full Stack development course at Gateshead College which gave her the opportunity to further build her skills and specialise in developing web-based applications.

Natasha: a determined T Level student at Gateshead College, is taking her inaugural steps into the world of Software Development. Prior to starting college, she demonstrated her leadership skills as one of the leaders in an equality club, showcasing her commitment to fostering inclusivity and diversity. Now, as she delves into her academic pursuits, Natasha seamlessly combines her passion for technology with her dedication to promoting equality. Currently on an industry placement at Layers Studio, Natasha not only hones her technical skills but also contributes to a more inclusive and innovative future within the area of software development.

Sophie: an Associate App Maker at Marra, with a background in the NHS working as a junior doctor. Throughout her career, it has been clear to see how beneficial and important technology is in making a difference to people’s lives both personally and professionally. Her experiences led her to pursue a new direction in her career and since joining the team, she has become a Microsoft Certified Power Platform Consultant and worked on several client projects. Marra’s mission is to make technology accessible for all and create a more diverse and inclusive tech sector, which very much aligns with her own beliefs. She is also part of the team that help organise events and engagements that support Marra’s values.
